Cologne, 10/02/2026. Cofinity-X is officially one of Germany's most innovative medium-sized companies. The Cologne-based company has been awarded the prestigious TOP 100 seal for 2026. The award underscores Cofinity-X's special role as a leading infrastructure provider for industrial data ecosystems

From vision to value: data ecosystems in practice

Cofinity-X provides the technical infrastructure for industrial data ecosystems such as Catena-X. In doing so, the company contributes to Europe's digital sovereignty. Data ecosystems are digital value creation networks that create a lingua franca for the data economy through common standards and interfaces. The idea: data treasures that lie isolated in individual companies due to a lack of compatibility between systems and formats should be shared along the value chain through common standards and interfaces, allowing them to unfold their true potential. Data sovereignty and security are guaranteed by the architecture model. Cofinity-X is one of the few companies worldwide that makes such data ecosystems practically usable, thus enabling the real value creation. Specifically, the young, international team of around 100 employees operates the technical infrastructure for data ecosystems. Cofinity-X verifies ecosystem participants and assigns digital identities, ensures ongoing operation and customer support. In addition, the company provides a marketplace for applications and services that follow the shared rules of the network. The company also offers its own solutions there. Cofinity-X has now been awarded for this work.

The TOP 100 award

Since 1993, compamedia has been awarding the TOP 100 seal to small- and medium-sized companies for exceptional innovative strength and above-average innovation success. Under the scientific direction of Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke, an independent committee examines several categories such as innovation-promoting top management, innovation climate, innovation processes, and organization. The mentor of TOP 100 is former German President and Minister President Christian Wulff. Cofinity-X stellt die technische Infrastruktur für industrielle Datenökosysteme wie Catena-X bereit. Das Unternehmen leistet dadurch einen Beitrag zur digitalen Souveränität Europas. Datenökosysteme sind digitale Wertschöpfungsnetzwerke, die eine Lingua Franca der Datenökonomie schaffen. Die Idee: Datenschätze, die mangels Kompabilität von Systemen und Formaten isoliert in einzelnen Unternehmen liegen, sollen durch gemeinsame Standards und Schnittstellen entlang der Wertschöpfungskette geteilt werden und ihr wahres Potenzial entfalten. Datensouveränität und Sicherheit werden dabei durch das Architekturmodell gewährleistet. Cofinity-X ist eines der wenigen Unternehmen weltweit, die solche Datenökosysteme praktisch nutzbar machen und so die eigentliche Wertschöpfung ermöglichen. Konkret betreibt das junge, internationale Team mit rund 100 Mitarbeitenden die technische Infrastruktur für Datenökosysteme. Cofinity-X verifiziert Ökosystem-Teilnehmende und vergibt digitale Identitäten, sorgt für den laufenden Betrieb und Kundensupport. Darüber hinaus stellt das Unternehmen einen Marktplatz für Applikationen und Services bereit, die den gemeinsamen Spielregeln des Netzwerks folgen. Die Firma bietet dort auch eigene Lösungen an.
