Asia’s first multi-tier PCF data exchange runs on Cofinity-X infrastructure

Cologne, July 2026. Cofinity-X supports Asia’s first Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) data exchange based on Catena-X standards. A pilot project led by sustainability software provider Glassdome has enabled KG Mobility (KGM), LG Electronics Vehicle Solution (VS) and multiple South Korean suppliers to exchange carbon footprint data securely across the supply chain through the Catena-X data space.
The initiative marks the first time an Asian automotive OEM and its suppliers have conducted end-to-end carbon data exchange across multiple supply chain tiers in accordance with Catena-X standards, representing an important milestone in the global adoption of the Catena-X ecosystem.
How sovereign data exchange works in practice
All participating companies leverage the Cofinity-X dataspace connector Dataspace OS and the Cofinity-X beta environment to validate the sovereign exchange of PCF data in Catena-X. The project shows how organizations can maintain full control over their data while collaborating across company boundaries and supply chain tiers.
As regulatory requirements such as the EU Battery Regulation (EUBR), the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and future Digital Product Passport (DPP) requirements continue to increase, standardized and secure data exchange is becoming an essential capability for globally connected manufacturing industries.
The PCF use case in Catena-X enables the standardized calculation and secure exchange of product-related CO₂ emissions across the automotive value chain. Based on ISO standards, WBCSD PACT guidance and the Catena-X PCF Rulebook, it promotes the exchange of comparable carbon footprint data and supports the transition from generic estimates to primary data from real production processes.
The South Korean pilot focuses on cluster components installed in KG Mobility’s Musso (Q270) vehicle and connects the entire supply chain from raw materials to final assembly. Participating partners include LG Chem (raw materials), New Material Industry and Shinsung Autotech (processing), LG Electronics Vehicle Solution (VS) Company (vehicle components), and KGM (OEM).
Glassdome leverages its Integrated Carbon Management Platform to collect primary, measured data across the supply chain and perform PCF calculation and verification. Through its partnership with Cofinity-X, each participating company is connected through Catena-X-compliant infrastructure that enables sovereign and secure data exchange while preserving data ownership and control.
“Cofinity-X is proud to support this pilot by providing our Catena-X-compliant infrastructure and a test environment for secure data exchange. The Korean partners’ adoption of Catena-X data exchange and sustainability use cases demonstrates their strong future orientation and shows how global manufacturers can proactively prepare for upcoming regulatory and market requirements.”

“By combining Glassdome’s platform with dedicated Catena-X connector technology, we have enabled end-to-end integration across the supply chain— from data collection to verification. We aim to establish this project as a standard model and support Korean manufacturers in seamlessly integrating into the global carbon data ecosystem.”
Jinki Ham CEO of Glassdome

KGM highlighted the project's role in establishing transparent carbon management across the Asian automotive supply chain, while LG Electronics emphasized the opportunity to prepare for increasingly sophisticated carbon data requirements from global customers.
A milestone in the global expansion of Catena-X
Beyond the successful implementation of the Product Carbon Footprint use case, the pilot demonstrates the increasing international adoption of Catena-X standards. As manufacturers around the world seek trusted and interoperable approaches to sustainability reporting and supply chain transparency, initiatives such as this pilot show how secure and sovereign data exchange can scale across regions and supply chain tiers.
“This project marks an important milestone for Catena-X, with the first Korean OEM enabling standardized carbon data exchange across its supply chain. The inclusion of multi-tier suppliers down to Tier 4 is a real breakthrough, showing how trusted and sovereign data sharing can work in practice. Partners like Glassdome, KGM and LG Electronics are setting a strong benchmark for scalable, end-to-end collaboration.”
Hanno Focken Managing Director of Catena-X

The project demonstrates that Catena-X has evolved beyond a European automotive initiative into a globally relevant framework for trusted industrial data exchange. By connecting companies across multiple supply chain tiers and enabling the exchange of primary carbon footprint data, the pilot shows how interoperable data spaces can support regulatory compliance, sustainability goals and cross-border collaboration on a global scale.
About Glassdome
Glassdome provides an integrated carbon data management solution that collects and standardizes energy and process data across manufacturing sites, from manual Excel and utility bill management to MES/ERP integration and down to PLC and instrumentation levels, enabling companies to meet the requirements of global regulations and supply chains. Major players across regulated industries, including automotive, battery, steel, aluminum, and textiles, such as KG Mobility, Samsung SDI, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, L&F, and Lotte InfraCell, have already adopted and are actively operating Glassdome's solution. As an Official Cofinity-X Partner, Glassdome is currently supporting companies through the Data Space Accelerator (DSA)—a program jointly operated by IDSA, Catena-X, and Cofinity-X—with end-to-end support spanning Catena-X onboarding (including BPN issuance), EDC connector setup, company certificate management, and PCF calculation and exchange aligned with the Catena-X Rulebook and ISO 14067, where DSA study remuneration may offset the cost of onboarding and PCF solution implementation (up to €30K in the EU / €40K in the US).
