Volkswagen Group, including AUDI, and Cofinity-X reduce manual data effort with a new AI-powered feature for the Golden Record Service

Cologne, July 2026. Together with the Volkswagen Group, Cofinity-X has brought an AI-based capability for the Golden Record Service into production. The solution addresses a problem that exists in almost every company: inconsistent data. The result is a reduction in time, effort and cost.
The challenge: keeping business partner data consistent at scale
Large automotive companies such as Volkswagen Group manage business partner data across complex global networks. Company names, addresses or legal structures change over time, while the same information may be represented in different formats across systems.
The Golden Record Service by Cofinity-X provides continuously updated and verified partner data. Incoming datasets are checked, corrected and enriched to support a reliable master data foundation and help prevent errors in deliveries, invoicing or payments. When relevant differences are identified, the updated records are sent back to the Golden Record customer, such as Volkswagen Group, for review and further processing.
When correct data still creates effort
In productive master data management, not every detected difference requires the same level of attention. The key challenge is to identify which cases are business-critical and which can be handled reliably through intelligent automation.
Using a transformer architecture, the AI model behind technologies such as Large Language Models, the new enhancement supports this classification at scale. Straightforward cases can be processed by the AI, while more complex or uncertain cases are forwarded to Volkswagen Group’s data management experts for review.
AI-supported classification and impact
The approach follows a clear human-in-the-loop principle: when in doubt, the AI confers with a human. Its performance is regularly validated to ensure that automation supports data quality without removing expert oversight.
For employees, this means less time spent on repetitive checks and more focus on the cases where their expertise creates real value. In productive use, the AI has already flagged important data changes and presented them to specialists for verification, helping teams act faster while maintaining confidence in the results.
Co-developed with Volkswagen Group, including AUDI
The capability was developed and validated in close collaboration with Volkswagen Group, including AUDI. Within Volkswagen Group, AUDI holds Group-wide responsibility for master data. The joint work combined the master data management expertise of Cofinity-X and Volkswagen Group with practical requirements and AI know-how.
“Even small differences in business partner data can create unnecessary manual work. With this enhancement, we help users focus on relevant changes while maintaining control over data quality.”
Chandan Reddy AI expert at Cofinity-X

“With more than 100,000 business partners, consistent data is essential for our operations. The AI extension by Cofinity-X helps us focus on meaningful changes and reduces unnecessary manual effort. This directly improves efficiency across our systems.”
Hardy Heyde AI Engineer at AUDI AG

Scalable potential for business partner data management
The projectshows how AI can improve data quality processes step by step in real productionenvironments. By reducing manual effort in change requests, companies can makebusiness partner data management more efficient without lowering qualitystandards.
Cofinity-X and Volkswagen Group will continue todevelop the Golden Record Service based on practical use cases and operationalfeedback.
